One of the more challenging Royals, according to the book, is Prince Andrew, known for his temper and whims. Andrew once fired an employee over something as trivial as having a mole on their face. In another instance, he let go of someone for wearing a nylon tie. He is also infamous for his collection of teddy bears, which he demands be perfectly arranged on his bed every day. If anything is out of place, his anger is quick to surface, as revealed by former employee Charlotte Briggs.
The book also delves into the demanding nature of the current monarch, Charles III. Meghan’s transition into the royal family was reportedly much more difficult. According to Quinn, she didn’t receive the help she needed, and Harry assumed she would adjust just fine. This lack of support left her feeling that she and Harry were not being treated with the same respect or importance as William and Kate.
Kate, on the other hand, managed to navigate royal life much more smoothly. Known for her diplomacy, Kate has always handled situations without causing conflict and has been praised for her firm yet gentle approach, especially when it comes to raising her children in a way that breaks from royal traditions.
Another striking aspect of Quinn’s book is the revelation of the royal family’s peculiar habits. Despite their polished public image, behind closed doors, the Royals are shown to have some rather eccentric behavior. Princess Margaret, for example, once had dinner with comedian Stephen Fry, and upon learning that Fry’s ancestor had signed the death warrant of King Charles I, she jokingly stabbed a fork into his leg, declaring, “It’s time for revenge.”
