Princess Charlotte’s Heartwrenching Message To Catherine As Her Mother Forced Sends Public Apology

Like many mothers across the country, Princess Catherine is set for a special day as she celebrates Mother’s Day with her three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. While details of the family’s plans remain private, Catherine is sure to be spoiled by her loved ones, making this occasion particularly poignant as her first Mother’s Day since her cancer battle last year.

However, the day may also bring back memories of last year’s unexpected controversy, when a Mother’s Day photograph shared by the princess led to a rare public apology. Traditionally, Catherine marks the occasion with family photos or personal tributes to her children. This year, however, the Prince and Princess of Wales took a different approach, opting to share a beautifully edited video celebrating the power of nature.

Posted on their official social media pages, the clip showcased a variety of breathtaking natural landscapes across the UK, including woodlands, fields, beaches, and the ocean. Among the serene visuals were close-up shots of a daisy slowly unfurling, fog rolling over a craggy hill, and a tiny ladybird crawling along a blade of grass. An accompanying message read:

“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognize how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves but remind us, too, of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.”

The decision to share a video rather than a family photograph this year suggests a more cautious approach following the media frenzy surrounding last year’s post. The backlash was widely regarded as an overreaction, particularly in an industry where edited images are commonplace. Yet, despite the scrutiny, Catherine handled the situation with grace, taking responsibility for the issue and moving forward.

Mother’s Day in the UK and the U.S. falls on different dates, as they originated as distinct celebrations. In Britain, the holiday—also known as Mothering Sunday—takes place on the fourth Sunday of Lent, usually falling in late March or early April. Traditionally, it was a day when Christians returned to their “mother church,” but over time, it has become a day for family gatherings and visits to mothers, especially for those who live or work away from home.

For Prince William and Prince Harry, Mother’s Day remains deeply significant as they honor the memory of their late mother, Princess Diana. During their childhood, they would pick flowers for her from the grounds of Highgrove. Even now, despite living in different countries, Harry is believed to still mark the day in Diana’s memory.

Former Highgrove gardener Jack Stooks, who worked for King Charles for over two decades, recalled that along with flowers, William and Harry would often leave handwritten cards for their mother. This tradition continues with William’s own children. He has spoken openly about ensuring his kids know who their grandmother was, stating:

“It’s important they know who she was and that she existed. I think constantly talking about Granny Diana… we’ve got more photos up around the house now of her, and we talk about her a bit.”

On special occasions, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis create cards for their late grandmother. In a previous Mother’s Day tribute, George’s card featured a shining sun, trees, and birds, with the heartfelt message:

“Dear Granny Diana, Happy Happy Mother’s Day. I love you very much and think of you always. Sending lots of love from George.”

Princess Charlotte once acknowledged how much her father misses his mom, while Prince Louis contributed his own artwork—a painting of a heart surrounded by rabbits, birds, and bumblebees, signed simply: “From Louis.”

These small yet meaningful tributes highlight the enduring love and remembrance the family holds for Princess Diana, ensuring that her legacy lives on for future generations.
