Lisa Vanderpump Shares Rare Insight Into Marriage to Ken Todd: “No Disrespect to My Husband”

Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd got married back in 1982, and their relationship is still going strong. However, fans have long wondered why Lisa kept her maiden name. During a visit to Bravo HQ several years back, as you can see in the video above, the Vanderpump Rules boss cleared up the mystery.

“Ken had already been married before […] but I felt that ‘Vanderpump’ was a much nicer name than ‘Todd,’ sorry, no disrespect to my husband,” she shared, adding that because Ken’s ex-wife kept the name “Todd,” she didn’t want to follow suit.

“I never actually changed my name. I didn’t change my passport. I didn’t change anything. So I was always Lisa Vanderpump,” she explained in the throwback Bavo interview, noting that their two children, Pandora and Max, have both their names, as “Vanderpump-Todd.”

Though Lisa mostly likes to keep their relationship relatively behind the scenes, she spills a bit about their life from time to time, sometimes sharing photos of her husband, their kids, and grandkids on her Instagram page.

LVP did as much around Ken’s birthday in 2024, posting probably one of the most adorable snapshots of the businessman playing with his grandson, Theodore “Teddy” Sabo. “Happy Birthday to the father of my children, the grandfather of the love of my life, I love you!” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum captioned the post of Ken and Teddy all smiles as Teddy sat on top of an eagle statue.

The image was so sweet, and Lisa’s fans concurred, flooding the comments section with happy birthday messages for Ken and comments about how sweet the pair looked together.

In a 2018 interview with BravoTV.com, Lisa predicted when she would become a grandmother (she’s now a proud grandmother to Pandora’s two sons, Theodore “Teddy” Sabo and Greyson Bear Sabo).

Ken has actually been a grandfather for years through his son from a previous marriage. “He’s [Ken] been a grandfather for a long time because his older son [Warren] has [a kid],” Lisa shared in the interview, adding, “His grandson’s the same age as [our son] Max.”

In that same interview, Lisa reflected on becoming a grandma someday, saying, “I think I’m prepared. I think I would look forward to that… I’ll just take the good bits. We won’t take the diapers and we won’t take the sleep deprivation.”
