King Charles Sweetly Invites Michael And Carole Middleton To Christmas Lunch At Windsor Castle

The British Royals are just like us in so many ways. There is nothing quite like the love between a girl and her adoring father, and over the years, the British royal family has had many sweet father-daughter moments.

After a challenging year that saw both King Charles and Princess Katherine diagnosed with cancer, the royal family is looking forward to a much-needed holiday together.

In keeping with tradition, the royal couple will host a relaxed and informal lunch with the Princess’s parents, Carol and Michael Middleton. Royal expert Emily Andrews confirmed that this casual family gathering is something the couple has cherished in years past.

King Charles is reportedly delighted to have the Wales and Middletons join him at Sandringham this Christmas. Despite the many changes the royal family has faced in recent months, sources close to the family reveal that following their treatment, the monarch is thrilled to be surrounded by his family this Christmas, offering a rare moment of unity and healing for the royal household.

Staff at Sandringham have noted the King’s positive mood as he embraces the festive season. Although King Charles did take a brief trip to London earlier this week to fulfill some official duties, he quickly returned to Sandringham to finalize the Christmas plans.

The King and Queen reportedly prefer the calm and intimate atmosphere of a lunch at Anmer Hall, a tradition that has become a special part of their holiday season.

The pair are known to have a good relationship with Princess Catherine. King Charles has bestowed an extraordinary gift on his daughter-in-law ahead of Christmas preparations in 2022, giving Catherine her very first Army role. She has taken over as Colonel of the Irish Guards, a position previously held by her husband, Prince William.

Their fondness for one another is well-documented, whether it’s the Princess of Wales and Michael Middleton’s shared love of tennis, Princess Anne and Prince Philip’s like-minded nature, or bonding over a Taylor Swift concert like Princess Charlotte and Prince William. These special bonds between royal pairs are a reminder that, in many ways, the Royals are just like us.

The Middleton family is very close. One particularly sweet moment saw Kate and her father Michael looking closer than ever when they attended Wimbledon together in July 2021. The father-daughter duo could be seen enjoying the match and chatting about the proceedings.

Kate was reported to be her father’s favorite child, and the Princess and her father bonded over their love of sports and shared personality traits.

Eileen Parker, wife of Philip’s close friend Mark Parker, previously revealed: “Philip always had more fun with Anne. Charles is more like the Queen, while Anne is very like Prince Philip.”

One adorable moment in 1980 saw the Duke of Edinburgh laughing with his daughter as they sat on top of a car.

Charlotte and William have been incredibly public with their shared love of football, as well as both being fully-fledged Swifties. Their close bond was on full display at Trooping the Colour in 2023 when the little Princess grabbed onto her father’s hand during their balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.

Just like their sports-star dad, Lena and Mia are not afraid to get stuck in when it comes to playing. They were captured climbing all over their rugby-player dad as they supported their mom, Zara Tindall, at the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials in Norfolk in April 2022.

The Princess of Wales has recently started to value her work more after her cancer diagnosis. With uncertainty towards her health, the Princess has developed a newfound connection with her royal duties.

She once received a standing ovation while attending the Wimbledon final over the weekend, marking a significant victory in her ongoing journey of treatment and healing.

Palace sources recently spoke to the press about how the Princess is doing after this rare appearance. According to the source, Katherine is now on summer break and will be taking a pause from public engagements for a bit.

Katherine’s attendance at Wimbledon will likely be her last public appearance until later this year. The news comes after it was reported that the Princess of Wales has been working from home, making calls, speaking with staff, and staying informed on the latest research for her royal causes.
