Vanderpump Rules

Here’s What All The Original VPR Cast Members Will Be Up To Now That They’re Fired From The Show

Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules will see a completely different cast working at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant after Bravo announced the show’s reboot. That means that viewers will no longer see the likes of Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Lala Kent, and James Kennedy gracing our television screens.

With the news that Bravo had done a complete overhaul of VPR, many fans were left wondering if that meant the OG’s were left without a job.

Thankfully, these stars have been around for so long, they’ve become household names. The show has helped them launch successful careers that include owning businesses, partnering with major brands, and starring in other reality TV shows. In fact, what was left of the cast no longer even worked at SUR. (Minus James, who would DJ occasionally). Here is a breakdown on what each VPR alum will be up to since getting fired.

Tom Sandoval Is Starring In The Traitors Season 3

Tom Sandoval with his hands wide open

Tom Sandoval was an OG cast member of Vanderpump Rules. While still on the show, Tom, who was SUR restaurant’s premier bartender, and his co-star, Tom Schwartz, partnered together and worked with Lisa Vanderpump to open TomTom restaurant in West Hollywood, in 2018. The two Toms then expanded to open Schwartz & Sandy’s lounge in Los Angeles in 2022. However, they announced its closure in November.

Tom has also starred in a few reality TV shows outside VPR. In 2023, he appeared on The Masked Singer as the “Diver.” That same year, he also participated in Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Known for being reality TV’s biggest villain after Scandoval, Tom is set to star in Season 3 of The Traitors, which will air in January 2025.

Scheana Shay Has Been Running Her Podcast Scheananigans Since 2018

Fans will also get to see Scheana on TV again after it was announced that she would be starring in the VPR spin-off The Valley, although it’s not yet known if she will join as a main cast member or a friend of the cast as of this writing.

Katie Maloney Is Running Her Sandwich Shop With Ariana Madix

Katie Maloney was also an OG Vanderpump Rules cast member who partnered up with co-star Ariana Madix to open their sandwich shop, Something About Her, which is located in West Hollywood. The shop officially opened in May, but it faced several delays that included permit issues and a few hiccups with their former chef. However, since opening, Something About Her has received solid reviews.

Speaking about their restaurant with ET, Katie shared that their vision for Something About Her came from filmmaker Nancy Meyer who is best known for her romcoms like The Holiday, It’s Compicated and Something’s Gotta Give.

“The original idea was that wanting that main character, delusional energy in life, every single day. You know, romanticizing lunch, and being able to go to a place and transport yourself.”

Besides running their business, Katie also followed in Scheana’s footsteps and launched her Disrespectfully podcast, which she co-hosts with Dayna Kathan, in January. The podcast is produced by Bachelor Nick Viall’s Envy Media Company.

Tom Schwartz

It was disheartening to hear that both Toms had to close down their Los Angeles lounge, Schwartz & Sandy’s, after just two years, but the men are still busy running their first business, TomTom restaurant. Besides this, they also launched their own small batch of whiskey named Tom’s Good Lovin.

In an interview with People Tom discussed what led to Schwartz & Sandy’s closing, but also shared that his future looked bright. The reality star revealed that he would be launching his Detox/Retox podcast with Podcast One in 2025. “I’m super excited about that. I’d also like to get behind the camera and produce some shows.” He also hopes to open up “a little dive bar someday.”

Like Scheana, Tom is also set to star in Season 2 of The Valley, but it’s unclear what his role will be in the upcoming season.

Ariana Madix Is Thriving Post Vanderpump Rules

Vanderpump Rules Star Ariana Madix

After Tom Sandoval and Rachel “Raquel” Leviss’ affair was exposed and ended his nearly 10-year relationship with Ariana Madix, it’s safe to say that her career soared. She starred in Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars and partnered with brands like shoe company DSW, Duracell, and Bic Razors. She even lived out her dream when she starred in the Broadway musical Chicago.

One of Ariana’s biggest career moves was landing the hosting gig on Season 6 of Love Island, which was the No.1 most-watched series across all streaming platforms when it aired. She is also set to host the upcoming Season 7.

Just after it was announced that VPR was firing the OG’s, Ariana already had a gig lined up—she sang at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Ariana is also keeping busy with Katie at their Something About Her sandwich shop.

James Kennedy Lands A Vegas Residency

James Kennedy can really thank Vanderpump Rules for helping his DJ-ing career thrive. In fact, he was the only remaining original cast member who continued to work at SUR as he made appearances DJ-ing at Lisa’s establishment.

In August, James got to headline the Neon Carnival event at Coachella in April, and the following month, James DJed at Stagecoach, country music’s biggest festival, and the Electric Daisy Festival.

James already has gigs lined up for next year. On Instagram, he announced that he would be DJ-ing alongside with Jersey Shore’s Pauly D for an epic “2 World Collide Tour.” The reality star also has a Las Vegas Residency at LIV Las Vegas.

Lala Kent Will Appear In The Valley Season 2

Lala Kent came onto Vanderpump Rules a lot later than her co-stars mentioned above, but she’s stuck around since the very end and quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to her no-nonsense attitude. With VPR ending, Lala will have her Give Them Lala podcast to keep her busy, which first launched in 2020.

Lala will also star in Season 2 of The Valley alongside Scheana and Tom Schwartz. It made sense to include Lala on the Bravo series since she not only lives in the San Fernando Valley, where the show is filmed, but is very close to the cast, including Brittany Cartwright.
