Duchess Sophie and Princess Kate are understood to share a close friendship. Over the years we have seen both women take on leading roles within the Royal Family and leaned on each other for support.
They have both developed and grown while taking on leading roles in the slimmed-down monarchy. Sophie, 60, and the Princess of Wales, 43, both married into the Firm and have become global fashion icons.
Both women share a similar taste in fashion and complement each other’s bold statements when they head out together on official engagments, which in turn reflects their unique bond. The Duchess and Princess Kate often wear similar designs and the same colours on separate occasions.
Sophie and Kate both honour protocol and swapped style notes with Queen Elizabeth who is said to of made a lasting impression on the women. Sophie often wears refined tailored looks with bold hues.
Meanwhile, she also tends to incorporate feminine touches thanks to her love of pink and fluid fabrics. In turn, this compliments her shapely body structure. On the other hand, Kate has taken a shine to fitted classic staples that show off her slender frame.

Vibrant Hues
At Trooping the Colour 2024, Sophie turned heads in a look created by Beulah London. Her regal dress was complimented by a standout headpiece from Jane Taylor.
However, it seems that she based her look on Kate’s Thanksgiving Service look back in 2022. Princess Kate wowed onlookers in an almost identical pastel yellow coat dress by Emilia Wickstead – which is a go-to designer for her and has countless designers of the British designer hanging up in her wardrobe.
Meanwhile completed her ensemble with a regal Philip Treacy hat, Forever New clutch and Gianvito Rossi heels which cost thousands of pounds.

Dressed in Black
Duchess Sophie and Princess Kate 2020 shared a similar look at the National Service Of Remembrance At The Cenotaph. Donning mourning attire they both wore black coats that featured a sleek gold-button detail.
Last year Princess Kate underwent preventive chemotherapy treatment due to an unspecified cancer. This meant she scaled back her Royal duties in public but made a surprise appearance on Remembrance Sunday back in November to honour war heroes.
Showing off their sweet friendship Sophie tenderly laid a hand on Kate’s shoulder in a supportive gesture as the two senior royals exited the balcony following the service of Remembrance.

Sparkle rarely goes out of fashion thanks to its timeless elegance. Many women opt to wear shimmering numbers to winter events as it brings a touch of class but equally fun energy.
Princess Kate chose a metallic lace dress for the UK-India Year of Culture launch in 2017 and Sophie opted for a floor-length version at the 2022 Royal Variety Performance.
Sophie was a huge fan of the glittering gown as she re-reworked it again in 2023 during her visit to Canada as Colonel-in-Chief of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment.
Beautiful in Blue

Both Sophie and Kate often are seen in monochromatic looks and prefer one blocked colour when they put together their outfits.
The duo’s fashion closeness was also highlighted by their blissful blue ensembles. Kate debuted an Alexander McQueen coat dress during a 2014 walkabout in New Zealand, later rehearing it for a D-Day tribute after bowling over Royal onlookers.
While Sophie splashed out on a custom Suzannah London dress, that was almost identical to the shade Kate wore, for the 2018 festive day Church service at Sandringham.
Sophie has frequently revisited the look, and most recently wore it this year during the walkabout on Christmas Day walkabout.
