Royal fans react positively to Princess Kate’s surprise move in Carmarthenshire when she melted the hearts of local residents.

Princess Kate meets Lily-Rose Logan

Princess Kate melted the hearts of residents after her visit to the Welsh knitwear and sock manufacturer Corgi in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, when she stopped to speak to a young girl calling out to her.

Royal fans on social media praised the Princess for her “instinctive” move, which was highly unusual. Royal convoys rarely stop after they have left an engagement, and it is believed the princess must have felt the urge to ask the driver to let her get out.

A young girl, named Lily-Rose Logan, three, had been calling out “hello princess” and when the the royal hurriedly stepped out the car to approach her.

Kate said: “I heard you say ‘hello’ from all the way back there and I wanted to come and see you.”

Fans on X rushed to praise the Princess of Wales. One wrote: “You could see that the other cars, security and photographers were not expecting her to stop, it was purely instinctive when she saw the little girl. Also she ran so it definitely wasn’t planned, they are on a tight set schedule. I just could not admire this woman more.”

Corgi was founded in 1892 by the current co-owner’s great-great grandfather, who started by making socks for miners and now sells products in 34 countries.

The firm, which has the Royal Warrant, has made numerous items for the family, including for King Charles.

On another visit earlier in the day, Kate was named patron of a south Wales children’s hospice.

She visited Tŷ Hafan in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan, to meet children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Kensington Palace said she was looking forward to building a close relationship with the hospice and those it served.

Princess Kate has surprised a three-year-old young girl and her family by stopping the royal car and jumping out to have a chat.

The Princess of Wales was on a royal visit to a knitwear and sock making factory in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, during the royal’s first day visit to the principality since she announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024.

Princess Kate waved to Lily-Rose after the three-year-old shouted “hello princess” to try and attract Catherine’s attention.

Kate jogged over to shake Lily-Rose’s hand. She told the toddler: “I heard you say ‘hello’ from all the way back there and I wanted to come and see you. It’s very nice to meet you.'”

Lily replied to the Princess “I wanted to say hi to you!” The three-year-old even asked if Kate was really a princess.

The Princess of Wales said: “Yes I am! I wanted to come and say hello.”

Stacey Chorely, the mother of the young girl, told GB News that Lily was delighted when Kate came running up to her.

“We had a feeling she was coming out to meet Lily because she was the only child there. She came running over in her high heels and it was a wow moment. It was so cute.”

Stacey described her three-year-old daughter as “outgoing” and “not shy at all”.

She said: “She’s got her own voice. So the fact she had the confidence to be able to do that was brilliant.”

“When you hear that someone of that level comes to town it’s like wow.”

Later in the day, Kate visited Corgi, a family run textiles manufacturer focusing on socks and knitwear, where the Princess of Wales met Lily and her family.
