Catherine’s Bad News Over Her Serious Situation In Rare Palace Moment: You’ll Need Tissues!
Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has begun 2025 with a gradual return to royal appearances, much to the delight of royal fans. However, a major shift in protocol signals a lasting change in her approach to public life following her battle with cancer.
Reports suggest that Kensington Palace will no longer routinely release details of the outfits and accessories she wears during official engagements. This decision stems from Catherine’s frustration over the intense focus on her fashion choices, often overshadowing the substance of her work.
Since marrying Prince William almost 14 years ago, her wardrobe has been meticulously analyzed by royal watchers, with brands experiencing a surge in sales whenever she wears their pieces. In the past, the palace frequently provided the media with information about her clothing and jewelry, but moving forward, such details may only be shared for significant state and family events.
A Kensington Palace source explained:
“There is a strong belief that it is not about what the Princess is wearing—she wants the focus to be on the important issues, the people, and the causes she is highlighting. While she understands that some of the public will always appreciate her style, there is no need for official statements detailing every outfit.”
This shift aligns with previous remarks from a close friend of Catherine’s, who in 2022 shared that she found the relentless focus on her appearance “enormously frustrating.” The friend explained that while Catherine understands the expectation to dress formally for events like the Bond premiere or Trooping the Colour, she has long wished for more attention on her charitable work rather than her fashion.
Though the routine sharing of outfit details with the press will change, information about significant pieces worn for important engagements may still be released. Kensington Palace notably did not provide details of the Princess’s outfits during her recent visits to South Wales, marking a clear departure from past practice.
Following her diagnosis and recovery, Catherine has been slowly increasing her public appearances. Similar to last year, she is expected to attend Trooping the Colour in June, one of the most important events on the royal calendar, as well as the National Service of Remembrance in November. However, a palace source emphasized that her return to work will be carefully paced:
“She would rather confirm her attendance only when she is certain she can be there, rather than raise expectations and then have to cancel.”
Currently, there are no plans for Catherine to accompany Prince William on his upcoming solo foreign visits, but she remains committed to her Early Years initiative, which promotes the importance of a child’s first five years in shaping long-term mental and physical well-being. In the coming days, she is set to unveil a new framework to further this cause, marking her gradual return to public engagements after largely stepping back from the spotlight in the past year.
King Charles and Queen Camilla have expressed their joy at Catherine’s progress. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace described her latest health update as “wonderful news” and confirmed that Their Majesties continue to offer their love, thoughts, and support as she continues her recovery.
Earlier this year, a palace representative shared that King Charles was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did” about her health challenges. Her return to public life, with a renewed focus on meaningful work, signals a new chapter for the Princess of Wales.
