Catherine STUNS The Most Wanted Jewelries From Late Queen Whopping $80M, William Speechless!
When Prince William and Princess Katherine wed back in 2011, she became one of the most famous women in the world as the wife of the future King. Middleton quickly inherited plenty of popularity, a royal title, and also a number of expensive jewelry pieces.
Through the years, the princess has accumulated a hefty jewelry collection worth more money than most will ever see in their lifetime. Her most expensive piece, which is from the Queen, is worth $80 million.
On Monday, January 27th, the Princess of Wales accompanied her husband to an emotional Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony in London. Renowned for her impeccable fashion sense, it’s the thoughtful details that set her style apart. A key aspect of her elegance lies in her carefully chosen jewelry, often selected for its deep personal and historical significance.
Dressed in an elegant all-black ensemble, Catherine wore Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain Pearl drop earrings, Princess Diana’s three-strand pearl bracelet, and a new five-strand pearl necklace from luxury vintage jeweler Susan Kaplan. Deeply emotional images of her hugging them went around the world, with Steven later describing her as “such a darling.”
The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace is a truly delicate and extravagant piece. It features 13 emerald-cut diamonds and a pear-shaped center diamond and is rumored to be the Royal Family’s most expensive piece, estimated at around $80 million. The necklace, originally made by Cartier in 1935, first appeared on the Princess of Wales back in 2014 when she wore it to an art gallery event.
Catherine cannot be ignorant of the degree to which her every style choice is obsessively analyzed. Why, then, the inexplicable choice of wearing a Chanel handbag on that particular day? This situation is made even stranger by the fact that Chanel is a brand that the 43-year-old only occasionally wears and is far from one of her staple brands. She owns only three of their handbags and, in nearly 14 years of royal duties, has only worn their clothing twice.
While the earrings and bracelet are cherished pieces from Catherine’s royal collection, the necklace—a creation by the Jewish-owned brand—was a debut. Having the future Queen wear a piece of her fabulous vintage jewelry would have been an honor on any day of the week for Susan Kaplan.
Susan, who set up her eponymous brand in 2008 and is one of the world’s leading curators of vintage jewelry, called it a monumental occasion. Speaking from her London headquarters, she said, “It was so significant for her to wear my brand on such an important day. My heart was warmed. I am Jewish, and it was just so meaningful for us from that point of view. My emotions yesterday were so high.”
Pearls were one of Queen Elizabeth’s style signatures throughout her record reign and are historically traditional for mourning or remembrance events. Princess Catherine recently pinned on her late grandmother-in-law’s Bahrain Pearl drop earrings for the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph War Memorial in November 2024 and brought them out of the vault once more on Monday.
However, Catherine’s necklace was notably not some priceless heirloom. Instead, it was a vintage faux pearl necklace which, although unbranded, was produced in the 1980s with materials of impeccable quality compared to those used today. It was listed for $275 and is a rhodium-plated five-row pearl strand necklace featuring luminous faux pearls in graduating sizes with a Swarovski crystal clasp.
Although she is admirably discreet about her royal links, the necklace was sourced by Catherine’s stylists. The necklace, which is currently out of stock but is expected to return to the website soon, has generated overwhelming interest.
“So while the princess presents herself in her unparalleled style, she also reminds us of the importance of remembering and honoring the memory of those who suffered during one of the darkest chapters in history,” Susan said.
“People have been so positive, and we have received so many wonderful comments. Her outfit was a perfect example of pared-down dressing to suit the occasion and set off her necklace beautifully. I really do feel so proud.”
Her choice of jewelry not only adds a touch of elegance but also carries with it a message of respect and reflection.
While Princess Kate didn’t have a tiara moment last year amid her step back from the spotlight while undergoing treatment for cancer—a diagnosis she announced in March 2024—she shared in September that she had completed chemotherapy. On January 14, she relayed with relief that she is in remission.
