Brittany Cartwright Shares an Emotional Update on Her Friendship With Katie Maloney
Brittany Cartwright and Katie Maloney were once the best of friends, but now the two are rarely in touch.
The pair got to know each other when Brittany began dating her now-estranged husband, Jax Taylor, which led her to appear on Vanderpump Rules. And though Katie was Brittany’s matron of honor, the ladies had a falling-out in 2022.
Most recently, The Valley cast member admitted she’s “not really” in touch with Katie on the March 21 episode of her podcast, When Reality Hits with Brittany Cartwright. She doesn’t, however, hold any ill will towards the Something About Her co-owner.
“I want nothing but the best for Katie. I still have so much love for her,” the mom of one said. “We were so close. She was the matron of honor in my wedding, so I want nothing but the best for her.”
When’s the last time Brittany Cartwright spoke to Katie Maloney?
In spite of their falling out, Brittany and Katie have reached out to each other a few times as they’ve each navigated public splits. (Katie and Tom Schwartz divorced in 2022.)
“She did reach out in the beginning whenever I went through my separation,” Brittany continued, referring to her February 2024 split from Jax. “So I thought that was so nice.”
Brittany also said that she contacted Katie after her dad passed away in early January 2025, and when she celebrated her birthday a few weeks later. “So I reached out for her for both of those times. I didn’t hear back,” Brittany continued. “But I know she’s also busy. I’m busy. But she has reached out to me a couple of times.”
Katie and Brittany have their differences, but the Kentucky native added, “I have nothing but love for her. If I saw her out, I would give her a big hug and everything like that. But no, we haven’t really reconnected in that way.”
Why are Brittany Cartwright and Katie Maloney no longer friends?
Katie said she decided to take a break in her friendship with Brittany when Brittany and Jax chose last-minute not to attend Stassi Schroeder’s 2022 wedding to Beau Clark.
“We were all planning to go to Italy…” Katie said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show back in 2024. “So then the morning that we’re all supposed to go to Italy, Brittany sends a message saying, ‘Oh my god, we’re not going to be able to make it, we didn’t get the passport in time,’ yada yada yada. Just excuse, excuse, excuse.”
So, Katie decided to step back. “I just feel like there were so many lies, and I don’t like lies,” she explained “I just, I f—–g hate lies, man. Like, nothing more than that. So I’m just like, you know, I need a break… and also Jax has just been such a f—–g asshole to me for no reason.”
Katie also didn’t feel support from Brittany when she first split up from Tom. “So I was like, you know, I’m good on you,” she continued.
Brittany, however, said that it felt “very intimidating” to consider reaching out to Katie at the time.
