Brittany Cartwright Claims Rehab Didn’t Change Ex Jax Taylor As He Continued To “Rage Text” While In Therapy: “Never Going To Change”
OG Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor dated his co-star Stassi Schroeder and, shockingly, hooked up with her best friend Kristin Doute. He’d end up dating a couple of women throughout his time on the series, including SUR’s waitress-turned-inspiring-actress Laura-Leigh, until he finally found the one with Southern Belle Brittany Cartwright.
The couple got married on the show in June 2019, even after he had cheated on her, and they showcased the ups and downs of their marriage on Bravo’s spin-off The Valley. Ahead of the show’s premiere, it was revealed that Brittany and Jax had split, and in August, the mom of their son, Cruz, filed for divorce just a month after Jax entered a rehab facility for his mental health.
Sadly, the pair’s split has become messy as they continue to slam one another in interviews. In fact, Brittany dropped a bombshell claim that Jax’s rehab stay did nothing for the reality TV star.
Brittany Cartwright Claims Jax Taylor’s Rehab Stay Did Nothing For The Star As He Continued To “Rage Text” Her
The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright opened up a lot more regarding her separation and divorce filing from Jax Taylor. Sitting down on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, the reality star shared that things between her and Jax were not good. During the conversation, Brittany revealed that during Jax’s 30-day stay at a mental health facility, it did nothing to change the star, and he continued to angrily text her and bring her down.
“I don’t feel like he changed at all in those 30 days … A lot of rage texting and stuff was still going on the entire time that he was in rehab.”
During her interview, Brittany stated that she did not want to see herself go crawling back to Jax as he had manipulated her into doing so “for 10 years.” Seeing Jax not getting any better while in rehab made Brittany realize that he was “never going to change.” The reality star added that it was “very eye-opening” for her.
“If you’re in thearpy 7 hours a day and you’re still finding time to call me names, and cuss me out, and send me rage texts, than your obviously never gonna change,” she told the host.
This ultimately led Brittany to file for divorce just a month after Jax left the mental health facility. She shared that it was the best time to do so after not seeing her former husband change his habits. Additionally, Brittany told the host that seeing herself file was one of most surprising things to occur in The Valley’s upcoming season. Brittany said that after she decided to go forward with the divorce she felt “relieved.”
Brittany Admitted To Hooking Up With Jax’s Friend
In the same podcast interview, Brittany was also asked about hooking up with Jax’s friend after they had separated. For Brittany, she didn’t see anything wrong with what she was doing, as Jax had cheated on Brittany with SUR co-worker and the couple’s friend Faith Stowers. Was it an eye for an eye?
According to Brittany, hooking up with Jax’s friend “wasn’t planned” but she found herself being with someone who she trusted. “I was single for the first time in L.A. … my whole L.A. story has been with Jax and on camera, pretty much. I never lived in L.A. without Jax. So this is a whole new thing for me.”
“Whenever I did, started hanging out with him, it was because it was somebody I knew. I always thought he was hot. Also I was just so mad at Jax that I didn’t care if I hurt his feelings.”
Jax appeared on the same Hot Mic podcast just a few days later where he addressed Brittany hooking up with his friend, Julian. Breaking his silence, the Jax’s Studio City bar owner said, “I don’t think I would have been bothered by it if it was someone else that I didn’t know, but the fact that it was one of my friends that I brought into my group … I did a lot for this guy,
“It was such a slap in the face to me.”
Unlike Brittany who stated that she and Jax never had a pact not to hook up with friends, Jax told the host that they did and she broke it.
Jax also revealed that he and Brittany were allegedly still intimate in July, after they were both separated. However, that all changed when he discovered his ex texting his friend.
Jax Was Allegedly Told To Enter Rehab Or Risk Losing His Reality TV Career
Jax entered a rehab facility in July to focus on his mental health following his split from Brittany. At the time, a representative for the reality star shared, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast. He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment.”
Around August 19, Jax exited the facility after staying for 30 days. However, a new bombshell report claimed that Jax did not choose to go to rehab, and instead, was pressured to do so or risk losing his job in The Valley.
A source from British tabloid The Sun stated, “Production told Jax that if he wanted to film The Valley, he had to go to rehab. So he went to save his job.”
“It was a non-negotiable for them. It wasn’t his idea.”
Producers telling Jax to go to rehab stemmed from a very intense fight he had with Brittany, in which he “went over the line.” The fight could be the one Jax was referencing to in his podcast interview in which he detailed finding Brittany sexting Julian and showing photos of their son to him. Jax admitted that he “lost it” and “saw red” and began throwing furniture around and got “crazy.”
Jax Taylor Shared That He Was Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder And PTSD While Staying At The Rehab Facility For 30 Days
Whether he was forced to check into rehab or went on his own accord, Jax shared that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during his 30-day stay.
Taking to Instagram to share a life update after exiting the facility, Jax wrote:
“A little over a month ago, I checked into an intensive inpatient treatment facility scared of the unknown and what I would find out about myself. After many years of knowing something was wrong but not knowing exactly what it was, I recently learned that I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD.”
He continued, “It’s been a lot to process and an emotional time for me, however I’ve come home to my son with a new found sense of peace. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for the future but my focus is just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. Mental health is a lifelong battle of not letting it control you but rather you learning to control it.”
Season 2 of The Valley is expected to premiere in spring 2025 and will certainly dive into the aftermath of Brittany and Jax’s separation.
