Behind the scenes, the relationship between the world’s most high-profile couple, Prince William and Princess Kate, is incredibly relatable, with the two having a playful side.

An expert has revealed how Princess Kate, 42, has an unlikely personality trait, which is the couple’s “secret” weapon. Royal author Christopher Andersen told Fox News: “William once described Kate’s sense of humour as ‘naughty’ and his own as ‘dirty’, and claimed that it was one of the most important things that drew them together.

“They’ve certainly cleaned up their act for the children’s sake, but they can still make each other double over laughing.”

During some engagements together, the Prince and Princess of Wales are often pictured laughing together and they seem to have fun when stepping out as a family.

The Prince first spoke about Kate’s personality when they sat down for their official engagement interview.

Prince William said: “We obviously met at university – at St Andrews we were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on. We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle, had lots of fun and realised we shared the same interests and had a really good time.”

He further added: “She’s got a really naughty sense of humour, which kind of helps me because I’ve got a really dry sense of humour, so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh and things happened.”

Prince William and Kate went on to marry at Westminster Abbey in central London on April 29, 2011, and the couple are proud parents to three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

According to the royal author, the Waleses share a “wacky, slapstick, Monty Python-meets-Benny Hill sense of humour”.

The year 2024 has been difficult for the couple, as Princess Kate has navigated through her cancer diagnosis and undertaken chemotherapy.

Over the past months, the couple showed immense care for one another – the Princess of Wales hailed her husband as “a great source of comfort and reassurance” during her cancer fight.

Speaking of the illness, Kate said she and the Prince of Wales had been doing all they could to “process and manage” the news privately for the sake of their children, earlier in the year.

Despite his senior royal role, William stepped back temporarily from official duties to care for Kate and look after their children – at a time when King Charles was also away from public engagements due to his cancer diagnosis.
