Tom Schwartz was put in the hot seat—by his ex-wife.
On April 22, the former “Vanderpump Rules” star sat down with his ex, Katie Maloney, for the launch of his new podcast, “Detox Retox.”
Early on in the sitdown, Maloney asked Schwartz about his relationship with Sophia Skoro. The former Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner was linked with the 24-year-old advertising associate last year.
“What happened with your girlfriend?” Maloney asked Schwartz on the podcast.
“She’s not my girlfriend, we’re just really good friends now,” Schwartz replied, without naming Skoro. “I try to be respectful of her. She’s very private.”
Schwartz was previously in a 12-year relationship with Maloney. The former couple divorced in 2022.

GettyWhile chatting with Maloney, Schwartz noted that Skoro got thrust into the headlines when they began hanging out last year.
“Let’s just say, not to be self-deprecating, but you know better than anybody that it’s not the biggest flex to be referred to as Tom Schwartz’ girlfriend,” Schwartz reminded Maloney. “I saw her getting relegated to that, and she’s so much more than that. She’s an awesome human being. But let’s not do a deep dive into that. I’m good, I’m happy right now. I’m peaceful.”
Maloney then asked Schwartz to clarify that he’s friends with Skoro but not dating.
“No, we’re not dating,” he confirmed.
Schwartz noted that Maloney seems happy in her new relationship with musician Nick Martin.
Tom Schwartz Said He’s Just ‘Hanging Out’
BravoFans have been wondering about Schwartz’ relationship with Skoro. In April 2024, the two appeared to be a solid couple when they stopped by “The Viall Files” for a joint interview. At the time, Schwartz made it seem as though Skoro was his girlfriend.
“We actually met on a whim at TomTom,” Schwartz told host Nick Viall. “It’s funny, ironically, around that moment, I made a pledge, not only to myself, but to the universe, that I will not hang out or date. I’m just going to be single and work for the next two years. Then I bumped into her.”
But less than one year later, Schwartz told Us Weekly he wasn’t dating anyone. “Honestly, I am not formally dating anyone, I am just hanging out. … There is not much to say about my love life,” he said.
In April 2025, Schwartz appeared solo at the premiere party for “The Valley” season 2. “I don’t have a lady,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m just keeping a low profile right now. But I’m happy, I’m peaceful. …Yeah, I’m not dating anyone. I’m just hanging out.”
