Jax Taylor Asks Former ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Co-Star to Help With His Bar Business

Jax Taylor asked a former “Vanderpump Rules” co-star to help him out.

One month after coming clean about his 20-year struggle with substance abuse, “The Valley” star admitted that he is spending less time at his Studio City bar as he focuses on his sobriety journey. “I’ve cut back a lot,” Taylor said on his podcast, “In the Mind of Jax Taylor.” “ I was there all the time and now I’m going through this new journey in my life. I’ve really limited myself there.”

Taylor explained that fans come to his bar, Jax’s Studio City, with the hopes of “seeing somebody there,” so he tries to make appearances. But in recent weeks, Tom Schwartz has stepped in to help promote the bar when Taylor isn’t there.

“If you see me, I’m helping promote once in a while, here and there, I’ll pop in and help you out,” Schwartz said on the podcast. “I know you need to step away more often.”

Taylor further explained that the bar isn’t the best place for him to be amid his sobriety journey. He then thanked Schwartz for his help and added, “I appreciate you stepping in and helping out. Until we figure out what we’re going to do, I think my goal is to get you a little bit more on board, hopefully, in the future if that’s something you’re interested in.”

Tom Schwartz Joked That Jax Would Scare Fans Off

Taylor, who opened the sports bar Jax’s Studio City in late 2023, also revealed that he hopes to do a remodel on his bar soon—and he wants help from Schwartz, who previously brainstormed design ideas for the now-defunct Franklin Village bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s.

“We’re definitely going to be doing a remodel shortly within the next week or two,” Taylor said on the podcast. “Tom’s been involved with that because I really love Schwartz & Sandy’s. I think the inside, other than the location, the inside was absolutely amazing, and he’s got a lot of good ideas. And I think you did an amazing job building such a beautiful place. I think you have really good taste, and I want to incorporate that into the new bar.”

Schwartz then joked that Taylor was “scaring the audience away.” “Nobody wants a Schwartz & Sandy’s 2.0. Nobody wants that,” Schwartz cracked.

Taylor said he was only referring to emulating the décor of Schwartz’s former Franklin Village bar, not a full business partnership. “You made a really pretty bar,” he told his former co-star.

Brittany Cartwright No Longer Wants To Be Associated With Jax’s Bar

While Schwartz is becoming a little more involved with Taylor’s bar, Brittany Cartwright is further distancing herself from it. During an April 2025 episode of her “When Reality Hits” podcast, Cartwright revealed that she asked to have her trademarked Mamaw’s beer Cheese taken off of Taylor’s menu after his business partners changed plans to have her open her own bar in West Hollywood.

“After Britt’s bar was sold without my knowledge and everything else that happened with that thing, and just where Jax and I stand right now, I don’t want to be associated with that bar,” Cartwright explained. “And I definitely don’t want my Mamaw to be associated with it.”

Cartwright also claimed that she never made a dime off the beer cheese when it was on the menu of her ex’s bar.
