Lisa Vanderpump Has 2-Word Description for ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Spinoff
Lisa Vanderpump was not a fan of one of the earliest “Vanderpump Rules” spinoffs—despite the fact that she was a producer on the show.
While the restaurant-based Bravo reality show spawned new series’ such as “Vanderpump Villa” and “The Valley,” Vanderpump took issue with the 2017 series “Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky.”
Speaking with Us Weekly in April 2025, Vanderpump had two words to describe the show, which starred former VPR cast members Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright: “It’s boring.”
“I was a producer on that, but there wasn’t enough content,” Vanderpump explained. “Painful, too long. How many episodes did they have? I think it was too long.”
The 2017 “Green Acres”-style Bravo spinoff followed the then-couple from Los Angeles to Cartwright’s family farm in Kentucky, where they worked and hung out with the Cartwright clan.
Vanderpump said she had hopes for the series, which aired for six episodes in 2017, because Jax and Brittany were “happy” at the time. The longtime couple split in early 2024.
Jax Taylor Was Not in His Element on The Spinoff Series
While Cartwright was comfortable going back to her Southern roots for the spinoff series, Taylor was a fish out of water. In an interview with The Huffington Post, he admitted, “No, I had never done farm work before. It was ALL completely foreign to me and it was hard. Hard work in general is foreign to me! I mean…I’m a hard worker, but definitely not ready for that really early morning type of work.”
The former SUR bartender also noted that he had to tone things down a bit around Cartwright’s family.
“I would bite my tongue on certain things. I’m very outspoken and say things that are on my mind regardless of the outcome. I don’t have a filter sometimes and it ends up hurting me,” Taylor said.
Lisa Vanderpump Has Not Stayed In Touch With Jax & Brittany

Taylor and Cartwright’s spinoff only lasted for one season. In 2020, they both left “Vanderpump Rules.” They have not stayed in close contact with Vanderpump.
In a 2024 interview with Heavy/EntertainmentNow, Cartwright said she “definitely” thought Vanderpump would be a “bigger part’ of her life than she is today.
“I still love her. I still respect her,” Cartwright clarified. ‘And so, I’m grateful for everything that she’s done for me. And allowing me to be on ‘Vanderpump Rules’ for the five years that I was. So, you know, there’s so much that I love about her. …I just wish she would be around us a little bit more.”
In an April 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Vanderpump stated that she is “not close” with Taylor and still hasn’t gotten over his claim that “Vanderpump Rules” was “his” show during a season 8 blowout.
“He shot himself in the foot when he left. He was like, ‘This is my show.’ And I was like, ‘No. This is my show. Bye,’” Vanderpump told the outlet.
