We Have a Major Update on Tom Schwartz & Katie Maloney’s “Really Intense” Relationship

Tom Schwartz is now focusing on the future after the Vanderpump Rules Season 12 cast shakeup. The VPR alum is living in a new place, has his brother Bert living close by, and, in a surprising turn of events, now has primary custody of the two dogs that he shared with his ex-wife, Katie Maloney.

Katie appeared on the podcast, Humble Brag with Crystal and Cynthia, on April 14, where she revealed that their two dogs — Butters and Gordo — primarily live with Tom after they had previously shared custody, doing “a week on, week off.”

“We still have the dogs, and they primarily live with him,” she said.

“I love those guys so much that like, I can’t never see them,” she noted. “So we mostly talk about the dogs and…it was really intense.”

Where do Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney stand today?

She continued on the podcast, opening up about where she stands with Tom today after their 2022 divorce. “We’re cool,” she admitted. “But like, we don’t get lunch.”

Tom spoke with E! News in February where he revealed that he had met Katie’s boyfriend, Nick Martin, who he thinks is “so cool.”

“Listen, I love seeing her happy,” he noted. “She’s happy, I’m happy…I have nothing but love and respect for Katie and we’re on great terms.”

Is Tom Schwartz dating anyone?

Tom is officially back on the market after dating Sophia Skoro in 2024. The TomTom partner spoke with Entertainment Tonight in early April, where he made a bold declaration about his relationship status.

“I don’t have a lady,” he admitted. “I’m just keeping a low profile right now…I’m not dating anyone. I’m just hanging out…I’m happy. I’m peaceful.”

Where is Tom Schwartz living now?

Tom is currently living in a new house in North Hollywood. The house is complete with a spacious outdoor area, modern kitchen, and a gym area. It’s plenty of space for him to be comfortable with his two dogs, entertain his friends, and grow his many houseplants.

The house also happens to be just feet away from The Valley‘s Jax Taylor’s new house. “He has a townhouse that is next to mine, but they are completely separate,” Jax revealed during a September 2024 episode of his former podcast, When Reality Hits. “We have our own building, but we do not live together.”

It also helps that one of Tom’s triplet brothers just moved out to LA, too. “I feel more connected to my family than I ever have in my whole life,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

Tom Schwartz reflects on the closing of Schwartz & Sandy’s

But things haven’t been the easiest for Tom, who had to close his beloved bar Schwartz & Sandy’s this past December.

Tom reflected on the closing of the bar during The Valley Season 2 After Show. “Honestly, I think I’m still processing everything that happened,” he said.

He continued, noting that he was proud of everything that he and business partner, Tom Sandoval, accomplished while the bar was open for two years.

“I’m at least proud to say that I can walk away knowing that I put everything I had into that place,” he admitted. “Almost all of my money. Lord knows I over-leveraged myself. I feel like we were never really accepted or embraced by the neighborhood but I’m f–king proud of that place.”

Tom also revealed during The Valley Season 2 After Show that he’s proud of how the bar transformed him. “I think I was too soft before that bar,” he explained. “If anything, now I feel like I have so much more life experience. I have more grit. I feel like I just have a newfound respect and appreciation for life. I just feel like I’ve grown in so many ways. I don’t know if it shows through my actions, but I can feel it.”

Tom Schwartz shares new updates on his career

But now, Tom is focusing on the bar which he still owns, TomTom, his future, and all of the new projects that he has in development, like a new podcast. During a Jan. 28 appearance on the LadyGang podcast, Tom Schwartz opened up about the podcast, which is tentatively titled Detox/Retox.

While he has not announced when the podcast will be released, he does have an idea for how it’s going to go. “It’s about the balance, about the yin and yang of life,” he explained. “It’s about the detox and the retox.”

“One week, we’ll have guests on and we’ll nourish the mind, body, and soul, you know what I mean? Maybe some hot yoga, some Bikram, some transcendental meditation,” he continued about the project, set to launch on PodcastOne. “I’m not an expert in anything. I’ll be learning with the audience. And the next week, you know, we’re keeping it together so maybe we can fall apart a little bit, have a cheat day, indulge a little bit, you know?”

Tom Schwartz shares his advice for the VPR Season 12 cast

Tom, however, still has plenty of advice to share with the incoming cast of VPR Season 12.

Tom spoke with Extra on April 10, where he admitted that he has a few “lessons about what not to do in life” to share with the new cast. This includes one very important piece of advice: “Don’t put your name on the side of a bar EVER, ever,” he joked, referring to Schwartz & Sandy’s.

When he spoke with Entertainment Tonight that same month, he revealed that he had even more to share with the new cast when they stopped by TomTom for a drink. “I just told them, ‘You guys, just don’t try to come in and put on a performance.’ Don’t create a character in your mind — which I’ve been guilty of in the past early seasons,” he stated. “Or create monologues, or come on with a scripted version of yourself. Just be raw, let loose, maybe don’t go to Vegas and get tattoos on your ass.”
