Ally Lewber Opens Up About Her Conversation With Lisa Vanderpump After James Kennedy’s Arrest
Ally Lewber detailed a conversation she had with Lisa Vanderpump after her ex, James Kennedy, was arrested for domestic violence in December 2024.
While on the “Viall Files” podcast that aired on April 9, Lewber said that Vanderpump called her after Kennedy’s arrest and tried to convince her to stay with him.
“She called me, and she did make sure, like, ‘Are you OK?’ I mean, this was, like, two months later, but she called and made sure… maybe a month? I don’t know. Certainly not the next day,” Lewber said on the podcast. “But she called and checked in on me.”
“She’s very protective over James,” she added. “And I get it because I was too for a long time.”
So with that, Vanderpump was adamant that she wanted Lewber to stay with Kennedy.
“She was basically like, ‘Ally, he needs you. You’re really good together,” Lewber recalled. “She was like, ‘You should go travel with him to his [DJ] shows this weekend.’ I’m like, ‘First of all, what shows? He’s canceled right now. And also, no? I just moved into an apartment. We’re not together.’”
“It was really weird because, on the call, I was weak in the moment,” she continued. However, after asking herself if she “made the wrong decision” by breaking up with him, she spoke to her friends who confirmed that she did the right thing.
Lisa Vanderpump Issued a Statement After James Kennedy’s Arrest
When speaking with Us Weekly at the beginning of February, Vanderpump revealed that she has “spoken to James and to Ally at great length.”
She said that she couldn’t “drop the ball on somebody that I’ve supported and has had a troubled time,” referencing Kennedy’s past and current struggles with alcohol.
“The first [and] most important thing for me was [to know] what happened exactly,” she continued. “I didn’t need to just hear from James. I needed to hear from Ally, too, from her mouth what happened. She told me categorically he didn’t hurt her. He never hurts her. They were both drinking.”
Vanderpump then claimed that Lewber was the one who told the police to arrest him.
“She basically said, ‘Oh yes, take him away. It’ll teach him a lesson,’” Vanderpump added. “But no, he didn’t hurt her categorically. … She regrets what happened with how this blew up.”
Ally Lewber Said the Public’s Support Was a ‘Wake-up Call’
Lewber spoke with PEOPLE on April 8 and revealed that she “probably” would have stayed with Kennedy if it hadn’t been so public. But because it was, those on the outside “made me face the facts.”
“It was just a lot of wake-up calls that needed to happen, but it wasn’t easy in the moment,” Lewber said.
